Years ago, Steve and I started giving each other gifts on special as well as ordinary days. As time went on, we found joy in surprising each other with various gifts - big, small, wrapped, unwrapped, cheap, expensive...it didn't matter. What mattered most was that each gift was a reassurance that someone knew what made us smile and laugh, as it brought out the child in us.
To be a child...is to be in awe, to laugh, be silly, be carefree, be pleasantly surprised, to believe, to trust, to dream, to be in love....and so much more. I find it meaningful to be all of these, but most importantly because I'm able to share the same world where my grown children and grandchildren live. We always find each other in this happy place.
